Introducing… Clive’s Betting Diary

Hi, Clive here.

I’m the guy that runs Racecracker and I have also agreed to write a weekly betting diary for you lovely people who read the Bet Chat.

This first post explains the background to my betting without which, the diary itself probably makes little sense.

In addition to my service bets, I bet across horse racing, football, darts and golf using tipsters and have occasional bets of my own. I stake around an average of £1000 per week which sounds a lot but isn’t when you consider the stakes and profits on winning bets are also regularly coming back into my accounts.

Tipsters cannot be read without a guide simply because the standard ‘currency’ of the point means different things to different people as you will see below.

What counts as a bet?

This isn’t quite as simple as it sounds.

Obviously a single, either win or each way counts as one. Any multiple also counts as one. Each day, for each tipster, I also place a one point multiple bet covering all that tipster’s selections which I call a multi. So the number of bets referred to below is not necessarily the same as the number of selections.

TIPSTERSPORTNOTESBETS PER WEEKSTAKING PLANMY PER POINT
Northern MonkeyRacingMainly flat but also Cheltenham and Saturday big races.330.25-3pts. Very few 3 pointers.£20
SnowyRacingJumps only.16Bets marked out of ten but bet usually split by betting each way so 1-5pts.£2
Brett LoveRacingAll round but Saturday and big meetings only.150.25-2pts but very few 2 pointers.£20
RacecrackerRacingAll round.281-2pts but very few two pointers.£10
SamRacingTriallist hence no multis.140.25-2pts.£5
Inside ManFootballAvailable through Bet Chat.8Usually 1 point, occasionally 0.5-2pts.£40
RainmakerGolfN/A15Usually 1-4pts but occasionally 10pts on minor markets.£1
On the OcheDartsWorld Champs only.N/AUsually 1pt.£30

I’ve been with Northern Monkey for seven years, hence the high stakes. Love has been upgraded this year following a successful 2021 but, as his bets come all on one day, it makes Saturdays scary sometimes!

Sam is on trial as I managed to get 90 days for £1. Inside Man has landed me some big wins via the multis hence the high stakes.

Rainmaker is inevitably facing the longest losing runs, golf being a game with 150 runners! For that reason alone, he has to be kept low. On the Oche is £360 per year so I don’t follow all the time. He lets me have the World’s for £30 which provides some Christmas fun.

My aim each year is £5000 profit but that is frequently scuppered by taking on more unsuccessful tipsters. We’ll see if I can resist that this year.

I’ll be back tomorrow with my first weekly diary entry and I hope you find the feature useful or, at the very least, interesting! If you have any questions for me, you can reach me via the usual address: clients@thebetchat.com.

Bet Chat recommends…

Everyone loves a recommendation don’t they?

That’s why, in this Sunday series, Bet Chat Bec and I will be highlighting the very best stuff we’ve been consuming with our eyes and ears over the preceding seven days.

It also – shock horror – won’t be purely stuff about sport, betting and investing. After all, having other interests and being able to ‘switch off’ is very much a good thing.

So, without further ado, let’s get started…

It’s been a little while since I sent out a traditional ‘recommends’ email, so I realise I’m a little late to the party on this one, but the new(ish) James Bond film is well worth a watch. It’s actually the first ever Bond I’ve seen at the cinema and I’m really glad that I did. Here’s the trailer…

Meanwhile, on the small screen I’ve been really enjoying the new Blair/Brown documentary on iPlayer. Whatever your political leanings, it’s fair to say that the New Labour period was a fascinating one and this documentary does a really good job of exploring it via enlightening interviews with all the big hitters.

You can watch it here.

I’m introducing two new mini features this week. My ‘sporting moment of the week’:

And my ‘picture of the week’:

Worthy new additions I’m sure you’ll agree.

Last up, I really can’t emphasis enough how good the Inside Man service is. I bring it up a lot for a reason and, if you’re serious about making money from sports betting, then this really should be a part of your portfolio.

Here’s the link you need to become a member.

That’s all from me. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

“Have you listened to Adam’s podcast yet?”

Reporting from Bet Chat HQ, north London…

Sunday is usually recommendation day here at the Bet Chat, but we’ve just noticed that a free podcast featuring our very own Adam Cheng has gone live!

Adam – if you didn’t already know – is our professional football bettor, who provides tips for the highly profitable Inside Man service…

The podcast is a fascinating look at his background and exactly how he decides what to bet on, and you can download and listen to it here.

September’s Fantasy Football winners

It’s also time to announce the winners of our September prizes for the Bet Chat Fantasy Football League…

First place and the winner of a one month free Inside Man subscription is Michael Philip’s Loose On Goose team.

Second place and the winner of £15 of Bet Chat credit is Alex Traynor’s Julio Geordio team.

Congrats Michael and Alex! To claim your prizes, please email clients@thebetchat.com.

That’s all from me today. Enjoy the podcast and have a splendid Tuesday evening!

“Like Father Christmas with a pint and a pool cue”

Reporting from Bet Chat HQ, north London…

It’s Friday and I’m feeling festive so I thought I’d treat you with an impromptu competition…

Up for grabs is a one month free subscription to the Bet Chat service of your choice, and to enter all you need to do is send the answer to the following question to clients@thebetchat.com:

Tomorrow I will be playing in the London Open pool competition. It’s a 128 man draw, but how far will I get (last 128, last 64, last 32, last 16, last 8, last 4, runner up or winner)?

HINT: I’ve played in the event on three previous occasions. On two I went out in the last 16, in the other I lost first round but to the eventual tournament winner.

In the event of a tie, Bet Chat Bec will spin around and around for 20 seconds, before selecting one of the correct entries at random.

And the winners don’t stop there…

It’s also about time that I revealed the winners of our Bet Chat Fantasy Football competition for August, so here goes…

First place and the winner of a one month free Inside Man subscription is David Fugill’s Hull City Rovers team.

Second place and the winner of £15 of Bet Chat credit is Brendan Jackson’s Rivlin team.

Congrats David and Brendan! To claim your prizes, please email clients@thebetchat.com.

And that’s just about that for today. I’m off to get my game face on ahead of tomorrow!

So, without further ado, let’s get started…

First up this week is a dual film/podcast recommendation with the two mediums telling the fascinating story of WeWork (and yes, the story of an office sharing space business really can be fascinating!)

The podcast is called WeCrashed and can be downloaded for free here.

The film is called WeWork: Or the Making and Breaking of a $47billion Unicorn. Full disclosure, I’ve not actually seen the film yet, but I know the story and I’ve heard good things from the Kermode and Mayo film review podcast and that’s good enough for me! You can watch the trailer below.

Next up, we have the news that OnlyFans have backtracked on their porn ban in a victory for sex workers over the morality police. Here’s the story.

Ever been to an Italian/Japanese fusion restaurant? I did on Wednesday and it was great! For a 10 course tasting menu and paired wines in London it was also pretty respectably priced. If you’re ever anywhere near the Big Smoke and fancy a weird and wonderful culinary treat, then check out Angelina in Dalston. Here’s a Jay Rayner review.

Finally for today, I should probably nudge you towards something sports betting related so here you are. The new football season is underway and our professional football bettor, Adam Cheng, is already in good form. Make sure you check out his service here if you aren’t a member already.

With that, I think we’re just about done for this week. Have a lovely Sunday!

“Seinfeld is perfect”

Reporting from Bet Chat HQ, south west London…

How was your weekend? Mine went something like this…

Get up > Dragged round shops > Many drinks > Bed > Get up > Die on the sofa for many hours > Curry and drinks > Bed.

It’s fair to say there were both highs and lows, but the one thing that kept me going through the especially dark moments of Sunday morning was Seinfeld, which I was watching for the very first time.

I realise that makes me more than a little late to the party but it’s my email newsletter and I can recommend whatever I want.

Coming up next week: The lowdown on a little known movie gem called The Godfather. Apparently there are a couple of sequels too.

Winners both sides of the Atlantic

Harry Higg’s did the business for us each-way at 100/1

As for my betting weekend, it was pretty good in the main…

Russel Yershon kicked off his free September of NFL tips with three easy winners from three selections.

Adam Cheng’s Inside Man service started the new season with a winning week. No surprise there!

And the only main selection from The Dossier’s golf strategy finished 2nd at a whopping 100/1, landing a very tasty 20/1 winner on the place part of the each-way bet.

I’d obviously recommend following all of the mentioned strategies over the coming weeks and months but of particular interest this week may well be The Dossier, with golf’s US Open teeing off this Thursday.

If you’d like to get your hands on that strategy (plus 14 others!), just click this link.
