Our main tip for US Open, Scottie Scheffler, finished 3rd and delivered a place pay-out for everyone who backed him at 6/1.
Travelers Championship (22nd to 25th June)
The US Open would have taken a lot out of some of the golfers who fought to the end in what was a very close finish, with Wyndham Clark securing his first major win shooting 10 under par. Rory Mcllroy was a close second at 9 under par and declared fine margins were the reason for him not landing his first major since 2014. The super consistent Scottie Scheffler was third at 7 under and will once again be looking to finish in a top 10 position this week.
Xander Schauffele shot 8 under par in the first round, but when it mattered most in the final two rounds he couldn’t keep in touch with the leaders and dropped back in the field. Schaufelle won the Travelers Championship last year by two shots at -19 and will be looking to be in contention once again this time.
The 2021 winner Harris English put in a good fight at US Open to finish 8th at -4 and played some lovely golf across the four days. He will also be looking to follow up with another consistent display at a course he knows well and be in the mix come Sunday with a chance to add another PGA Tour victory.
Tommy Fleetwood delivered the best fourth round score at the US Open and is feeling very confident about his golf but will need to start a lot better this week if he is to be in with a chance of victory on Sunday. He shot 63 in the US Open final round to finish 5th and collect a handsome prize fund.
Max Homa is a player who has been playing well on Tour with two top 10 finishes of late at Wells Fargo and Charles Schwabb, so putting this form on show can give him an excellent chance this week.
The course at Travelers will play into a lot of golfers’ hands and you can expect a low score to win the tournament. With plenty of trees and a few deep bunkers, accuracy off the tee is vital and strong iron play will be hugely valuable this week.
Best Each-Way Odds
Looking at the best each-way odds in the market, we have 1/6 the odds 12 places with Coral, 1/5 the odds 10 places with Ladbrokes and 1/5 the odds 8 places generally with Paddy Power, William Hill, SkyBet and Boylesports.
Selections
Max Homa at 40/1 with Paddy Power (1/5 the odds, 8 places) – 1pt each-way
Our top pick this week is Max Homa, who should be suited to this type of course. Playing consistent PGA Tour golf with two top 10 finishes of late, Homa is one to follow when he is on his A game. Playing four consistent round is in his locker so he can be in contention this week.
Harris English at 50/1 with Betfair (1/5 the odds, 8 places) – 1pt each-way
Our second pick is Harris English who won this tournament in 2022 and knows the course well. English played solid at the US Open and providing this hasn’t taken too much out of him, he can be in contention on the final day of the Travelers Championship. Having shown he can win a PGA Tour event, English is definitely one to follow this week.
