“I just won £100 on a free-to-play”

Reporting from Bet Chat HQ, Northern Ireland…

Hi,

My betting over the last few weeks has been the opposite of the Northern Irish weather…

Hot hot hot!

Part of that has been due to following some excellent tipsters (more on that tomorrow) but today I wanted to focus on something that you can do without parting with a penny…

The absolute pinnacle of value betting… the ‘free-to-play’.

These are opportunities that bookmakers give us to win a cash prize without risking any cash of our own and, right now, they’re in plentiful supply.

Now, I know what you’re thinking…

“Yeah Josh, I’ve heard of the ITV7 and Sky’s Super 6. They’re all well and good, but I’m never going to win them, am I?”

And sure, the likelihood of you winning 100k+ from one of those two freebies is very small, but that’s not what I’m talking about today.

Today, I’m talking about freebies that I regularly profit from. Not life changing amounts sure, but handy sums that add up, such as the £100 that dropped into my account this morning from a Coral freebie:

Eight of the best ‘free-to-plays’

In no particular order, here are 8 of the best ‘free-to-plays’ that I’m currently partaking in:

Coral’s Football Super Series

This is the free-to-play I’ve just made £100 on. They select one football match a week (last week’s was Chelsea v Man City) and get you to predict four match stats from multiple choice options, such as how many cards will be shown. If you get 4/4 you bag £100, but there are also prizes for two or three correct answers.

Coral’s Racing Super Series

This is perhaps my favourite free-to-play at the moment as it’s very winnable and provides extra entertainment on a big day of racing. It works in much the same way as a placepot, whereby you need to select a placed horse in seven races. If you manage it successfully, you win a share of the prize pot. I’ve won it a few times, including 30 odd quid a couple of weeks back.

Tote’s £1 free placepot

This isn’t open to everyone every week, but most Saturdays Tote give me a £1 free placepot. Just login to your account and check your promotions page. If the offer is there, opt in and bob’s your uncle.

Tote’s free daily spin

Tote also offer a free daily spin on a prize wheel that can give free casino spins or cash prizes. Though cash prizes are rarer than hen’s teeth, I usually get awarded casino spins and, crucially, any winnings from these casino spins are awarded as cash. I’ve won £10-20 from these on multiple occasions and even the small penny wins add up nicely over time.

BetMGM’s free daily spin

Much the same as Tote’s.

BetMGM are also pretty good for matched bet offers, so I would recommend opening an account there if you don’t have one already.

SkyBet’s Match 5

Login to SkyBet each day, Monday to Friday, click on the Match 5 offer and you will be assigned a football team. If two or more of them win their weekend match, you get a free bet. Quick and easy to play and usually results in a prize, including a £20 free bet for 5/5 which I’ve had before.

Bet365’s Goal Giveaway

Works in a very similar way to Match 5 but is based on goals scored rather than match results.

The Pools’ Football Squares

Last up, a new one (to me at least) is Football Squares from The Pools (of The Pools Panel fame). Login and click on the offer between Thursday 3pm and Saturday 3pm and you’ll be assigned nine squares, which include outcomes like Man City to score three or more goals. Get four or more winning squares and you win a prize. Last weekend I got four which was just the £1 free bet, but then promptly turned that into £10 cash by backing City to beat Chelsea 2-0.

Marginal gains and all that

While some of these prizes may not seem all that exciting to you, they really do add up over time and, for an investment of maybe five minutes a day, are well worth it…

Plus, who knows, maybe one of these days you won’t be waking up to a £100 win like me, but one of those elusive 100k+ jackpot wins.

Either way, for little effort and no financial cost, what have you got to lose?
