Reporting from The Pub, south-west London…
Today was supposed to be the day when Bet Chat Bec was flying back to Australia to see friends, family, and perhaps a kangaroo or two but, alas, for the second time in two weeks, Emirates called to cancel her flight at the latest of late notice.
So, what to do in this situation?
Head to a pub with a nice beer garden of course, and take advantage (not for the first, second or even third time) of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Don’t call us heroes… we’re just trying to do our bit.
As for the snooker well, that continues apace and my shout, Kurt Maflin, is just about hanging in there, despite spectacularly failing to do what I hoped and ‘get off to a fast start’, going down 7-1 in yesterday’s first session.
This morning saw an improved performance and at 10-6 down (first to 13) he’s still in the mix, so this evening’s deciding session is sure to be entertaining. Or at least it will be once I’ve had a beer or two in this beer garden.
And on that note, I must depart. Get outside and enjoy what’s left of the sun is my top tip for today. ‘Dem storm clouds be gathering.
