“Me, Dan and Dancing Dave”

Reporting from the train, somewhere between London and Brighton…

It’s all go in Bet Chat land at the moment. I’m currently on my way to Brighton races, having attended a wedding in Northern Ireland yesterday, and been to ‘The Hundred’ cricket at Lords on Tuesday.

It’s the latter of those three things I want to talk about today, with a ‘What I learned from the cricket’ list. Here goes…

  • What’s with the dumbing down of anything and everything? The Hundred has ‘revolutionised’ cricket by, umm, taking Twenty20’s 120 ball format and changing it to 100 balls. It’s basically the same thing but for people who can only count to 100.
  • The team names are a bit cringe too. ‘London Spirit’, ‘Northern Superchargers’… it’s all a bit American marketing 101 for my liking.
  • On the plus side, having the women’s match and the men’s match played one after the other and all included in the ticket price is an excellent idea and exactly the sort of thing sports should be doing to promote the women’s game.
  • And, speaking of ticket prices, £23 for the day is superb value. Take note football.

So, there you have it. I’m not entirely sure what the point of this email is, other than I’m aware I’ve not written to you a huge amount recently and I had some time to kill on the train!

Have a good weekend, and get your copy of Prem Bets if you haven’t done so yet. The Premier League starts a week today!
