“Shall we run a snooker service?”

Reporting from Bet Chat HQ, Northern Ireland…

Anybody who’s followed the Bet Chat (or the Betting Rant before it) for a reasonable length of time, will know that I have three areas of betting expertise…

  • International football accas, such as the most recent one I sent you which won.
  • Season-long Premier League bets, such as those included in my annual Prem Bets guide (winners in this season’s edition have already included Southampton to be bottom on Christmas Day at 8/1, and Erik Ten Hag to be the first manager to leave at 10/1)
  • And snooker bets, specifically on the Snooker World Championship. An edge which will make perfect sense if you know anything about my obsession with and participation in cue sports.

It’s the latter area that I’ll be focusing on today, seeing as…

Drumroll please…

The Snooker World Championship starts this Saturday! Hurrah!

For the first time ever, I thought I’d share my own snooker bets by way of service and, as it’s something completely new, I’ve put together an extra special deal.

Sign up here for a small one-off price of £20 and, if the service fails to make a profit, I’ll give you your money back.

Tips will be delivered via a community Telegram group, it’ll be as easy as easy can be to follow and, as with most years, I expect to come out very nicely on top.

Sound good? Click here to get involved.

Of course, I always like to go the extra mile and so, as a special bonus, I’m also going to give you a free tip today regardless of whether you sign up or not.

Here goes…

One to avoid and one to follow

As with any value betting proposition, a key component of my snooker success over the years has been opposing those players who are overrrated by the market and, in the context of this tournament, they don’t come much more overrated than a certain Judd Trump.

While undoubtedly talented, Judd is like the multiple Class 1 winning racehorse who just can’t get his head in front at the Cheltenham Festival. Simply put, the World Championship challenge doesn’t suit him.

This is a player who has won countless events over the years but, crucially, they’ve nearly all come in the short format tournaments, events largely made up of first to six, or even first to four matches…

At the Worlds, with its stamina sapping races (even the first round is first to 10), he has consistently come up short, winning the title just once.

For a player who hasn’t ranked lower than nine in the world in the last 15 years and who has been favourite or second favourite for most World Championships in that time, it’s just not good enough…

And as for his odds of just 7/2 to win it this year. Well, quite frankly they’re an insult.

All of which is one of the big reasons why my first bet this year is to back Kyren Wilson to win the tournament at odds of 7/1.

Kyren, unlike Judd, revels under World Championship conditions, and that’s why he’s made the semi-finals or better in four of the last seven tournaments.

Even more enticing, however, is the fact that he’s now a World Championship winner.

You see, prior to taking the ultimate title last season, Wilson had always had a bit of an issue getting over the line, especially against the bigger name players. It seems clear now that his issue was confidence and his results this season are that of a player transformed…

He’s won the Players Championship (beating Judd Trump in the final).

He’s won the German Masters.

He’s won the Northern Ireland Open (beating Judd Trump in the final).

He’s won the Xi’an Grand Prix (beating Judd Trump in the final).

And on top of that, he’s had good runs in the other two ‘Triple Crown’ events, making the semis of the UK Championship and the final of The Masters.

For me, it’s an absolute no-brainer backing Kyren and opposing Judd at the prices…

And, if you want more bets like this one…

On a ‘no profit, money back’ basis…
