This series is all about the ups and downs of a tipster portfolio approach to sports betting. It’s not here to directly promote any of the services and it’s certainly not here to criticise them either (after all, I’d be quite the fool to stake my own money on a service I don’t have faith in!)
Ultimately, the sole goal is to show that, despite the natural peaks and troughs, it is possible to make a good side income from sports betting if you follow the right services. All it takes is a little bit of organisation, and plenty of patience!

Freebies
This was Goodwood week and a chance for everyone to redeem themselves or plunge into the abyss.
Raceology only give me freebies on Fridays, tipped three losers for -£10. Flat Flyers tip about six a day and managed four winning days for £159. Racing Consultancy, a recent acquisition, had started with £35 of losses but then hit the winner of the Steward’s Cup on Saturday to take the week to +£59. ITV racing, another new acquisition, as the name suggests only tips TV races but there were plenty of those this week and they started with a profit of £71.
So, all told my freebies took £279 out of the bookie satchels and really vindicated my new staking plan for these bets.
Northern Monkey
The Monkey continues in the same unlucky vein. Regional in the Steward’s Cup had been lined up Jumby style for 100+ points of profit but could only finish an unlucky third after a slow start and traffic problems. So, another week of ‘what ifs’ goes by this time for a loss of £66.
Brett nailed the week with four winning days at Goodwood and the losing day costing just £17. A profit of £355 on the Wednesday was the highlight of a week worth £470. Brett’s losses for the year are down to £166 from £1085 and he should soon turn back to full staking. Let’s just get the farcical Shergar Cup day out of the way first.
Losses of £116 as it continues to fluctuate between profit and loss for the year, but it is one of my bigger stakers and it tends to require patience. Long spells of nothing interesting then an explosion of glory. Let’s hope!
One bet, one winner and won back the £60 it lost last week.
Football
No bets and no losses but it cost me £790 to cover his ante-post portfolio. Once again, we’re heavily invested on Mo Salah, a scary £120 each-way for top goalscorer, a title he somehow conspired to only tie for last year. Is this the year of redemption?
Golf
Rarely, a blank week. Not of bets but of winners or places costing me £124.
Tennis
No bets – holiday.
Summary
A cracking Goodwood more than paid for the golf losses and the week ended £373 up. The football ante-post doesn’t get accounted for until season end but the bets have at least half been paid for out of this week’s profits.
